Petsmart Harrisburg Christmas Eve Meet and Greet

Adopt
[gallery ids="620,618,619,621"] Today we brought out some adorable fosters to Petsmart to meet customers who were shopping for their four-legged family members. We had one of the Tennessee terriers with his foster mom, Lois. And for her first appearance in Harrisburg, Joy came out with her foster mom Lynn and son Sam. Stephanie G. also had some of her pups out and really attracted a lot of attention. Thanks to the staff at Petsmart for hosting us!

Christmas Lifesaving

Christmas Lifesaving

Adopt, Fostering
Today Furry Friends Network's amazing foster parents Lynn Briner, Stephanie Grossnickle and The Beard Family stepped up to foster a Black Lab mom and her thirteen, 7-week old babies living in very bad conditions. The vet indicated the puppies would not have made it through the weekend. We want to thank the rescue angels for their continued willingness to save lives, even 3 days before Christmas. Surely an inspiration... Furry Friends Network is truly blessed to have you all on our lifesaving team!! From the bottom of the little hearts you have kept beating, THANK YOU! #FurryFriendsNetwork #Fosteringsaveslive

Adopt a Black Pet

Adopt a Black Pet

Adopt
Top Reasons to Adopt a Black Pet 1 The color black is always in style! What doesn't look good with black? Surely you will. 2 A dog's black hair or a cat's black fur will not show up on your dark colored clothing. How often do you see people with white hair on their black pants? This doesn't mean other colors of pets aren't just as awesome as black pets, but it is an advantage to having pets with black hair! 3 Black dogs and cats take the longest to find homes, get adopted the least, and need you the most. 4 Love knows no color! At the end of the day, aesthetics don't matter all that much. It's the inside that counts, and black pets are just as golden…

Adopt a Senior Pet

Top Reasons to Adopt a Senior Pet 1 They usually have a calmer temperament. Easy walks, plenty of naps, and lots of lounging around - senior pets are wonderfully mellow! 2 The puppy phase is over! Senior pets are done with teething, nipping, and destroying furniture. 3 Older pets are often already potty trained before adoption. That means less accidents and a cleaner carpet. 4 They inspire relaxation! Petting an animal has many medical benefits such as calming your heart rate and making you smile. 5 Older pets are a known entity and size - at adoption, you know exacty what you get. 6 Adopting an older pet so that he or she can live out their golden years in a stable, secure and loving environment is the ultimate act…

Bark Magazine Guest Editorial: Just Say No By Ed Sayres I recently read a story (“Dog Story,” The New Yorker, Aug. 8, by Adam Gopnik, their award-winning staff writer) that saddened me. Mr. Gopnik wrote that he knowingly purchased a puppy-mill dog from a Manhattan pet store simply because his 10-year-old daughter asked him to. Since buying puppies from pet stores supports a cruel industry in which breeding dogs suffer every day of their shortened lives and the puppies who make it out are often sick, I am always disheartened when I hear that anyone has—knowingly or unwittingly—purchased a puppy-mill dog from a pet store or online. Mr. Gopnik wrote that because his daughter knew her parents would never leave Manhattan to purchase a dog from an “approved breeder, she…

Muffin

Muffin

Spotlight
Approx DOB: April 2007 Muffin is a beautiful buff and white long hair female cat looking for a new home. She was returned to Furry Friends Network because a family member became allergic to her. She didn’t get the best care in her previous home – her hair was matted and she was overweight when she came back to us. Muffin is now in much better shape and her hair has grown in beautifully after she had to be shaved. She now loves being brushed. Muffin loves to play with toys, especially laser lights. She isn’t crazy about cats but does well with dogs. We also recommend a home without young children. Muffin can nip at people if she feels trapped or threatened. However, she has made great strides in…
